A study of skin texture and digitally mediated touch, inspired by the surge in on-screen interactions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Here, I attempt to make up for perceptual gaps with audio instructions from an Ophthalmologist. The video is a latent interpolation from a Generative Adversarial Network (GANs) trained with portraits scraped from Instagram. Although biologically misaligned, the GANs extract and represent salient textures—pores, wrinkles, scars.
