Peter Sebastian Chesney (he/his/him) is filing his Ph.D. in history at UCLA in August 2021. “Drive Time” is the name of his dissertation, which is a multisensory history of car cultures in postwar Los Angeles. Mentors on his committee include Drs. Eric Avila and Peter Lunenfeld (of UCLA’s Design Media Arts). Chesney also holds a certificate in Urban Humanities from UCLA’s school of architecture and urban planning and has worked in policy at the Luskin Center for History and Policy. He lives in the Cypress Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.
