I am particularly interested in cataloging various objects, environments, and systems at the intersection of Russian and American identities. My family and I fled from Russia in 2001 as refugees; due to political reasons I have been inhibited from an entire other life in Russia, as well as visiting the country itself.

I try to critically catalog which things might dictate my experience and understanding of a split identity. Part of my being exists in Russia, it’s history, it’s traditions and domestic discourse. The other part, exists here, in the states—so how do I as an artist make work that isn’t contingent on one or the other, but a culmination, or rather, a newly invented language free to exist outside of those categories.
